[attr="class","theplot"]GENERAL RULES☆ Our overall forum rating is PG-13. All members must be 13 years of age or older per Proboards' Terms of Service. There is to be no excessive sexual situations or overly graphic blood and gore. In the case of romance, please fade to black.
☆ Should a thread become controversial or appear to be heading in that direction, the administration locks, moves, or deletes the thread. We try to keep the forum a safe environment for everyone.
☆ Do not spam the boards outside of the designated spam board. This includes the cbox and personal messages.
☆ This rule is probably the most important in the whole set. Respect the admins. We're not here to make you miserable, In fact, we want the exact opposite. We made this site and we made it mainly so people like you could have a fun place to roleplay, so please don't insult or try to confront us. Insulting is one thing, direct attacks and threatening are even worse. We would never do it to you, so don't do it to us.
☆ If you are faced with a disciplinary or are spoken to by an admin/mod in reference to something on the site and you resort to insults and/or verbal violence you will be banned from the site without question. We are here to make sure that every member, staff or otherwise enjoy their stay. If you are told no by an admin and you resort to insults and/or violence you will be banned without question.
☆ Keep IC feelings IC, do not drag them into the OOC atmosphere. Respect your fellow roleplayers. We hate it when people take the rp fights to real life and start unnecessary arguments about whether or not your character did something that was justified. Please, keep the fights to the threads.
☆ If you are having trouble with another member, please come to the admin about it. If you're having trouble with one of the admin, come to one of the other admin about it. We will take care of it. Please trust that we will be professional. If you're having trouble with everyone, it might just be you.
☆ Being nice to other members leads into inter-member relations. People fall out and we understand that. Such a fallout does not give anyone the right to cut ties with another member. We do encourage that you calmly discuss your issues with each other before coming to us, but once you feel like you've reached a dead-end or the other person is being unreasonable please alert an admin. We do not want a situation where two people create a domino effect. We do not want cliques. If all parties agree to end a plot with someone for OOC reasons it must be mutual and amicable decision between all involved. You will not be permitted to simply drop a plot due to OOC dislikes. Bullying involves a person constantly belittling you whether that be to your face or behind your back. Also, if you see a member being bullied please send the print screen to the admin and not the member being bullied.
☆ Keep to one name in the cbox. Our cbox is fancy because we paid good money for it, and you have to register to use it. This is also to keep the confusion to a minimum. We would love it if you did the following. or, more or less, didn't do the following. Do not spam, advertise in or bash the site/members of this site in the cbox. All advertising should be done in the forum designated for advertising and spamming. If we find people harassing other members or even guests harassing members, we will do something about it. So, don't do it. We do not tolerate bullying in any form.
☆ Do not advertise your forum outside of the advertising forum. Ads in the CBox will be deleted and result in a ban from the Cbox. If we find you have been spamming other members with your site, we will take immediate action.
☆ There will be certain restrictions and requirements to races, abilities, jobs etc, so please read the rules and rosters carefully.
[attr="class","theplot"]IMAGES AND GRAPHICS☆ Please at least have an avatar up for your character. You can find pre-made avatars at various places, such as Hollow Art. If you need help with any graphics, post in the graphics forum, someone will offer to help. Please use a 150x150 or 245x245 if you can as it looks the nicest but anything will work as long as it is square.
☆ Signatures should not exceed 500 pixels in width. They stretch the boards and throw everything out of whack. We currently do not have a limit on height or how many things you have in your signature, but please just don't get crazy. We don't want to have to scroll through ten graphics of your character to get to the next post.
☆ Please keep your graphics on-topic. It can be confusing to see a comic or LOLcat in your signature if your character is not a LOLcat.
☆ Please do not hotlink. Please upload all images to a private site like Imgbb, Photobucket or Post Images.
[attr="class","theplot"]CHARACTER CREATION☆ We do NOT allow face claims from anime, cartoons or video games for characters. Please keep your claim to at least someone semi-famous. We aren't going to outlaw models or anything like that, but we also don't want anyone to get in trouble if your random girl off Instagram stumbles onto the site and sees that she's an admin.
☆ We advise you post a reserve claim in the Face Claims even if you haven't yet finished your application. This avoids disappointment, should someone else sign up wanting to use the same face. We're afraid we cannot decline their application to do so if you haven't already claimed or reserved your character's play by.
☆ Please check the Face Claim for what is available. You can keep a reservation for two months. If you fail to claim your reservation you have to wait one month before you reserve it again. You can keep a maximum of three reservations at a time.
☆ Mary-Sues are not tolerated. Characters who have no flaws, or are the best at everything are considered Mary Sues. If you're afraid your character is a Mary Sue, consider taking the Mary Sue Test. Keep in mind that while younger characters can be talented, it is very unlikely that they could hold their own in a battle with the Dark Lord.
☆ Any and all special abilities must be applied for. This is not just to regulate special abilities for the abuse, but also to keep track of how many are within the Role-Play and whether they are being used responsibly. You can check bans and limitations in the Special Ability Roster.
☆ We strongly encourage character development and we understand that not everything is set in stone. However, should you wish to change something monumental about your character (such as their history like loss of a sibling you now wish was still alive or parentage) we ask that you let the admins know for their own records. We're not going to tell you no we just like things to be orderly and realistic. We also ask that you do not approach other members with the intention of causing an argument. (You need this: Kwikspell) Please discuss any major changes in a calm manner as to not cause upset. Sometimes rewriting an aspect of a character's history is crucial to their development, just please don't go changing everything about their parentage/family and leave other members plotless unless it was agreed upon by everyone involved.
☆ We understand that you may wish to create characters who have a firm grasp of power, but it simply isn't realistic. Very few are born into the status and even less manage to keep it and/or maintain it. Each member is allowed two royals unless given explicit permission by the admin team. This is to ensure that the site remains a Harry Potter oriented site and not a period drama. However, we will allow extensions if the character isn't Kings/Dukes/Princesses/Duchesses and so on. A similar rule applies to those in the workplace, for example; Minister of Magic, Head Master of Hogwarts, and Death Eater leader are reserved to two per member unless they overlap on the same character. For example, the DE taking control of Hogwarts. However, this must be discussed with the admin team prior to development. Otherwise, the limitations go as follows;
- Two royal positions such as Kings and Queens, Princes and Princess (This includes Dukes and Duchesses) any more will require admin permission and royals DO NOT have power in the magical world. That responsibility remains with the Ministry.
- TWO position of extreme power (DE Leader OR Order Leader, Minister, etc. This rule may have exceptions depending on the plot)
- THREE positions beneath the ones previously mentioned. (Deputy Minister, Deputy Headmaster/Mistress, Minor Organisation Leaders (Crows)), Student Leadership roles.
- FOUR positions of power (e.g. Head of Department (not including Heads of House, those are reserved to one each)).
☆ We have a wide variety of occupations here on DAD! However, we ask that you use your better judgement when considering an occupation for your new characters. If you need a degree or special training to do a job IRL, the odds are high you also need the same training in the magical world! Consider taking on an apprenticeship or training position within the Ministry or at St. Mungo's if you're under the age of twenty. Don't expect to rank up without at least two years service in a particular department! No one should be under the age of twenty-eight and be the head of ANY department in any occupation. A good rule of thumb is to add two to four years onto a graduating age for any job that would require additional training beyond school. Keep in mind that if your character didn't pass the required courses and grades required to enter a training program that courses may need repeated in one of the universities to gain entry. Each muggle university comes equipped with special classes tucked away on campus for these purposes. The Admin team reserve the right to deny any application for what they consider to be a misappropriation between occupation and age and request you swap the occupation to one of a better fit to be approved.
[attr="class","theplot"]ROLEPLAYING☆ Word count over the boards is a minimum of 250 words per RP post without coding. This minimum does not apply to Owls, Diaries, or OOC posts.
☆ Roleplay is to be written in story format (ie, how you would write a book), in the third person, and in the past tense.
☆ Don't bug other people about posting to you. It only serves to make people mad. Everyone here had things they need to do IRL, so they can't spend all their time posting back. Be patient and find something else to do to keep you occupied while waiting.
☆ No god-modding. If you think it's vital to your post, check with the person you're modding beforehand. Nobody likes to see their character played unrealistically by someone else, it's just common courtesy.
